First Street North

First Street North is a block critical to the past, present, and future of the Little Tokyo neighborhood. The community must control the development of this block.

First Street North: Past, Present & Future

First Street North is the Historic Heart of Little Tokyo

FSN is the only historically designated block in Little Tokyo. In the 1950s, most of FSN was taken by the City in order to accommodate the Civic Center expansion, but it is now home to some of our most important arts, cultural, and historic institutions. Some of these include: Go For Broke National Education Center & Monument, Japanese American National Museum, Union Center for the Arts, Fugetsu-Do Sweet Shop, and Historic Aoyama Tree.

Where is FSN?

First Street North is in the heart of Little Tokyo, between Temple St and 1st St, and between Judge John Aiso St and Alameda St.

URGENT! First Street North will potentially be put up for development by mid-2018

Help us actualize the 2013 Sustainable Little Tokyo vision—articulated by 200+ community members—which envisions equitable and sustainable development that maintains Little Tokyo’s historic and cultural roots for future generations
